The week
What each part looks like at Elk Glade.
The lodge and meals
Hunters stay in the ranch lodge, a mining camp hotel built in 1884, not a tent or drop camp. It has five bedrooms and hot showers. A private room is +$750, and the private cabin, which sleeps five, is +$1,950. Three meals a day are included, with wine and beer at dinner. No one uses a weapon within eight hours of drinking alcohol.
The guide and the ground
The standard is one guide for every two hunters, and a private guide is +$1,950. Hunts run in GMU 59 on 2,100 acres of family-owned land and 1,200 acres of exclusively leased State Land Board land, bordering about 25,000 acres of BLM land and about 10,000 acres of USFS land. Guides work with seasoned hunters and with people new to big-game hunting. Hunters who would rather skip steep climbs ride ATVs, Jeeps or horses at no extra charge.
After the shot
Field care and game recovery are part of the hunt. The ranch arranges caping, butchering, shipping and taxidermy at cost, with a 40% UPS shipping discount. See game processing for the ranch slaughterhouse and how it works.
Getting there
Ground transportation from Colorado Springs is included. The ranch is about 60 minutes from Colorado Springs airport (COS) and about 3 hours from Denver International (DIA), so fly into Colorado Springs if you can. Your flights or the drive to Colorado Springs are your own cost.
